Follow And Feature #12: Doubles of my books? What?Me? Noooo!

Hello Bookworms :)
Welcome to another Follow and Feature, hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read

This weeks Question:
Do you own any doubles of your books? What led to getting that second…or third or fourth…copy?  – A Great Read

Now, here’s the problem. My mother tongue is Albanian, but I know English and Italian quite well, and I have studied French, plus I understand Spanish. I like reading in all these languages, therefore people get confused when buying me a book. Well, mostly I read in Albanian, English, and Italian, but I have read books in French and Spanish. Unless I tell people I like horror (a genre you can’t easily find in Albania), they tend to buy me those ‘famous’ books in different languages. Like, for example, I already had a copy of “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in Albanian, but I received another one in Italian. I already had a copy of “A thousand splendid suns” by Khaled Hosseini in Albanian, but I received another one in Italian. It isn’t my fault really! And yes, if you are wondering, I do read them again in another language. It’s fun!

But I do have “Dracula” in the Albanian Version as a hardcover, Italian Version as a hardcover, and English Version as an ebook. Yes, I bought them all! And yes, I read “Dracula” before going to bed. Problem?
Have a great day!
Happy Scary Reading!

  1. Oh wow, you're incredibly multi-lingual and I find that intrinsically fascinating. I wish I was more well rounded in that respect, although I only know the crude little bits and phrases of Spanish. lol. I forgot most of what I learned in HS and College, it's horrid really but they say if you don't use it then you pretty much lose it. Guess that's what happened to me, but anyway onto the books. I understand that feeling of being gifted doubles too. :)

Definitely a new follower hopping on through.

    Happy Reading and Hopping! :)

    1. By reading books in different languages, you start practicing those languages, and your vocabulary expands. I was not good at English before, but when I started to read books, I started getting better at it.

  2. Oh wow, I am so jealous of how many languages you speak. I speak English and have some Irish and German. And by some I mean very little haha
I read Dracula for a Gothic literature class in Uni and I really liked it but I think when you analyse a book that in depth it can take the fun out of it.

  3. I have a copy of "The Little Prince"! (in Italian).

And yes, reading teaches you a lot. I've learnt more English by reading books (and participating in forums etc.) than when I was at Uni...

  6. That is pretty cool! I think it is awesome that you know so many languages. And that you have books in different languages. I think that is a good reason to have multiple copies of books!

    1. Yes, it is! Even though the story is the same, the original varies from the translation.
